Includes a 10th century word-for-word gloss in Old English, translated by Aldred, Provost of Chester-le-Street. Original cover lost during Viking raids on Lindisfarne and a replacement made in 1852. Removed from Lindisfarne to Durham Cathedral, and then to the ownership of Sir Robert Cotton in the early 17th century.
